sharing with DL

If objects (inbox, file folder, briefcase, calendar) are shared with a distribution list and a new user is added to the list, how do I get the shared objects to be available to this new list member?

They can use preferences > sharing > show folders shared with me through a distribution list.

Or you before you add them (or remove and re-add) set zmprov mdl list@domain.com "zimbraDistributionListSendShareMessageToNewMember s TRUE

Yes, top-right of the Web UI there's a help button - click on it and search.

I have read all the help files, worked through the wiki and done several searches, but under Preferences for a user there is no Sharing section to enable the "Show folders shared to me through a distribution list"

Is there a list of Zmprov attribute value references?
The one quoted above is not in the Admin Guide nor the help files.

Do you have sharing enabled? I'm still on 5.x but in the CoS properties it's under Features -> General Features. Make sure it's turned on there and not overriden in teh account properties either

Yes, we are running 6.x and it is on. Sharing works, but when I add a user to an existing DL with shared folders, they do not get the notification nor are they able to self-show the new share.

Same issue here with 6.0.4 NE.

New users (added to DL) do not receive the sharing mail.
I've check the DL (zmprov) and zimbraDistributionListSendShareMessageToNewMembers is TRUE.

However, while browsing Bugzilla, it appears we need to "publish the share info".
Bug 39585 – Unable to see 'Accepted' and 'Not Accepted' share details in Preferences->Sharing.

I did it, with "+" (to enable publishing I guess) and the owner (admin@domain.tld).

Does anyone know how to check if publishing is enable ?
And how to get this working in 6.0.x ?

See Bug 35700 - Admin Console work for Share management and discovery. and the release notes for your version of GnR.

The instructions aren't very detailed, but this is how it works:

1. In Admin GUI, go to Distribution Lists, select the distribution list, and click Edit.

2. Click the Shares tab.

3. Click Publish New Share.

4. Enter the email address of the owner of the share you want to publish. Then click "Find Shares.

5. Select the shares you want to publish and click "Publish Selected Shares", or simply click "Publish All Shares".

Note that this interface also lets you tell ZCS to send emails to new members of a DL regarding published shares.
