stats service stop

Hello
Occasionally I type
su - zimbra
zmcontrol status

and I get the following:

antispam Running
antivirus Running
convertd Running
imapproxy Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
memcached Running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Stopped

What is the stats service and why is it stopped?
When I enter zmcontrol startup it restarts and it becomes running?
After some time (I don't how how long) stats becomes stopped again.
Is this an expected bahavior?

No it isn't an expected behaviour. If you haven't done so already, do a search in these forums for answers.
