raid10 are more fault-tolerant in a degraded raid set than raid0+1, however the latter raid offers slightly more performance in a degraded raid set. with that said, i use raid10 far more than raid0+1. however, the Xserve RAID Admin program created a raid0+1 volume which we ended up using as our "messages" store.
