Default Zimbra at Amazon EC2 using ESB for backups

Does anybody have any experience with optimizing Amazon's ESB for better performance running something like a Zimbra backup.

I have already tried a single volume and now have a four disk software RAID volume, but my backups are still running too slow. I'm going to start playing with stripe size on the RAID and perhaps trying to use --zipStore instead of --zip on the backup command.

I've read a bunch of posts online about RAIDing Amazon ESB volumes, but was wondering if anybody has tried using them for Zimbra backups specifically with any luck.

Peter

Do you mean EBS? (Elastic Block Store)?

We have a client who uses EBS volumes and has found them too slow for anything which demands relatively high-performance, like databases for example. EBS volumes are fine for software repositories, web data farms, etc., but based on our client's experiences I'm not surprised ZCS backups are slow when the target is an EBS volume.

Hope that helps,
Mark
