Default zimbraPrefSentLifetime question...

Which implementation has more priority- COS, or user?

Example- I want to implement a regular purge of items in the "Sent" folder, but have a user who wants to keep all their Sent mail. If I apply:

zmprov ma user@domain.com zimbraPrefSentLifetime 0

first, and THEN apply:

zmprov mc COSName zimbraPrefSentLifetime 60d

Will the COS Sent mail purge affect this user? Will I have to go back and re-enter the correct settings for that user? Will their Sent mail be purged before I can do so?

If an option is set at a user level it overrides the COS level.

Just as a sanity check you can see which options of the COS the user has had overridden and is thus ignoring by going to the admin console, and opening the user's details. Next to every option that has been customized for that specific user will have a "Reset to COS Value" button next to it.

Note: Just because it has the button does not necessarily mean it is different from the COS, just that at some point it has been customized and thus will not be automatically changed with the COS changing.

Excellent, thank you. I had a suspicion that the user level overrode the COS level, but wanted to be sure before blindly implementing that code!
