When an email is downloaded via POP3 it's usually deleted from the server and is not recoverable. What do you mean by 'restore mails'? Where were they downloaded to? Which version of Zimbra are you using? Please update your forum profile with the output of the following (do not post it in this thread):

Code:
su - zimbra
zmcontrol -v

Try the .pst Import wizard. I'd suggest you stop letting users download their mail with POP3 and move them to IMAP instead.

Without a copy of the .pst file then you can't restore it. Isn't there any backup of the client PC? Can't you mount the drive using a linux recovery CD and copy the .pst file somewhere else?

You'll need to plan the change and inform your users what's happening but to stop POP3 you can go to the Admin UI and disable the POP3 service.

The other alternative would be to get them to use the Zimbra Web UI for their email or if they need a local copy then try the Zimbra Desktop. Whatever you decide to do you should inform the users that if they download mail to their computer then they're likely to lose if their machines crash and they haven't left a copy on your server. You should also take a backup of your Zimbra server on a regular basis and plan for eventualities such as recovering 'lost' email.

We have regular backups scheduled.

The user seems to have downloaded all mails (not keeping a copy on server), Now the users system is crashed and no other opeions seem to work.

Can u please explain what you meant by" plan for eventualities such as recovering 'lost' email".

Really grateful for the propmt help

If you have a backup of the user's .pst file, then use that to at least get back some of their account. This situation is one of the many reasons I hate POP and have it disabled on my server.
