Default [SOLVED] Zimbra server not delivering mail

Hi,

My Zimbra server suddenly stopped delivering mail after I reboot it. It was working fine before. It seems to accept mail properly and I haven't seen any bounces, but the users mailboxes don't have any mail since the day of the reboot. What are the things I should check?

Thanks!

From checking /var/log/maillog, it seems that the server doesn't seem to recognize its own hostname anymore. I'm getting this error:

Nov 18 17:42:38 z postfix/error[22507]: 9C43B12C13A4: to=<user@zimbra.mydomain.com>, relay=none, delay=0.05, delays=0.03/0/0/0.01, dsn=4.4.3, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=zimbra.mydomain.com type=A: Host not found, try again)

issue is with DNS server.
your mail server can not get the answer of the query made to DNS server.

check it

Hi Adeel,

I don't think this is the problem. zimbra.mydomain.com is the local hostname that I configured on this zimbra server (those logs I pasted were from my only zimbra server). I don't think any MX entry needs to be created for this in a DNS server.

Mail is being routed properly to the zimbra server, but the zimbra server doesn't seem to think the mail is for it even though it was working properly until I reboot it.

MX is even required for the local domain in zimbra.

Try service named start, if you are at linux

You need to fix your DNS records, see the error below.

Thank you guys - that did fix it. I didn't think it was DNS since I'm so used to sendmail and it does not care about DNS for local delivery.

You can disable the option "Enable DNS queries" in Global Settings.
