GAL/address book acting wierd after upgrade

I recently upgraded from OSE 5.0.14 to 6.0.2. One of my users sees several users by the name of a contact group that he has them in.

For instance

He may have a contact group called group1 containing john.doe@domain.com and jane.doe@domain.com. If he starts typing john.doe he gets "group1" <john.doe@domain.com> where it should be "John Doe" <john.doe@domain.com> if he starts typing in group1 he gets "group1" <john.doe@domain.com>, "group1" <jane.doe@domain.com>, and group1

The icons next to the username show they are coming from his addressbook, but the only place they are in his addressbook is in the contact group. All of the users in the contact group do not show up like this, and I've been unable to find any difference between the ones that do and the ones that do not. I've even tried deleting and recreating the contact groups.

Any ideas on what I can do? Is there any kind of maintenance I can run on the users address book?
