Default [SOLVED] Backing up /opt/zimbra. Error using rsync.

***RSYNC NEWBIE***

I getting ready to move to a new server. I'm trying to back up /opt/zimbra for the move.

Running:
Code:
rsync -e ssh -avzH /opt/zimbra root@192.168.78.17:/media/sda3/opt/zimbra
Gets me:
Code:
building file list ... rsync: link_stat "//opt/zimbra" failed: No such file or directory (2)
done

sent 29 bytes received 20 bytes 14.00 bytes/sec
total size is 0 speedup is 0.00
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(892) [sender=2.6.8]
I've tried different combinations but nothing is working. I know this is something simple. Can someone toss me a bone???

You don't need the "-e ssh" portion; the way the destination target is formatted rsync knows it's doing ssh to a remote host.

Hope that helps,
Mark

Thanks for the reply. I'm still getting an error.

Running:

Code:
rsync -avzH /opt/zimbra root@192.168.78.17:/media/sda3/opt/zimbra
Gets:
Code:
root@192.168.78.17's password:
building file list ... rsync: link_stat "//opt/zimbra" failed: No such file or directory (2)
done

sent 29 bytes received 20 bytes 10.89 bytes/sec
total size is 0 speedup is 0.00
rsync error: some files could not be transferred (code 23) at main.c(892) [sender=2.6.8]

Are you running rsync as root on the Zimbra machine?

Hope that helps,
Mark

I dont remember for Ubuntu, but on redhat you have to enable rsync after installation. Did you edit the /etc/xinetd.d/rsync file and set it to 'enabled' on the destination server? If you have to change that file restart xinetd with "/etc/init.d/xinetd restart".

I was running as root but through a SSH session. Run from the actual server, the command ran fine.

Code:
rsync -avzH /opt/zimbra root@192.168.78.17:/media/sda3/opt/zimbra
