Default [SOLVED] Zimbra says Drafts folder has messages, but folder is empty

My Drafts folder in the left pane shows there are 8 unread messages in it.

However when I open the Drafts folder there are no messages in it.

This symptom exists in both the web interface as well as in Zimbra Desktop Client.

This installation was tracking the 5.x series up to 5.0.18 (Open Source Edition) and this problem existed in several of the 5.0.x updates and still exists in the 6.0.2 install.

I have seen this for quite a few weeks now - currently using zcs-6.0.2_GA_1912.F7.20091020145320.tgz Open Source Edition:

Reindexing my account of course does not clear this issue up. Any ideas what I should be trying next?

Thanks

Have you ever used Thunderbird or another IMAP client to access the account? Often you will see an invisible message in the Draft folder if you do (although normally it is only 1). To fix it you just right click on the folder and select Compact in Thunderbird.

Yes, as a matter of fact I prefer to use Thunderbird to access my Zimbra account via IMAP and use the Zimbra Desktop Client or Zimbra Web interface for the Calendar feature and to keep myself familiar with Zimbra to be able to support my clients who use Zimbra.

BTW, Thunderbird was showing zero messages in the Drafts folder but once I told Thunderbird to compact the folder, Zimbra immediately synced and shows zero messages there too.

Thanks for a FAST and CORRECT response.
