Default Opening a second SMTP port

Hello all,

Is there a way to open to open a second port for the smtp service?

I know that this can be done in postfix via the master.cf file... But I am not sure if this file can / should be modified as not to interfere with the inner workings of Zimbra or that the changes will be overwritten.

Much appreciated.
-Cheers, Peter.

You can edit the master.cf.in file so that it will persist over server restarts. Modifying it shouldn't have an adverse affect on your setup. It might cause issues if you make a change in the admin webui though, not sure.

When you upgrade the server this will of course be overwritten and you will need to re-apply your changes.

An easier way to do this though might just be to forward the alternate port on your firewall if you don't need this extra port to apply to local LAN users as well.

Hi ArcaneMagus,
Thanks for the quick reply. Yea, I am doing it at the firewall currently which solves most cases, but as you mentioned it doesn't inside the firewall.

Much appreciated. :-)
-Cheers, Peter.
