Smile Problem With Mysql

Hello forum,

I have Zimbra OS version 5.16 on Ubuntu 6.04 TLS.
I have ben trying to troubleshoot an issue with general slow performance.
When I check zmcontrol status i have noticed

zmlogswatchctl not running
zmswatch not running

restarted and OK

then I follow those troubleshooting steps:

- Ceck diskspace /dev/sda3 OK

- Follow article trobleshooting logger

Logger (ZCS 5.0.x and earlier) - Zimbra :: Wiki

- check MYSQL: table they are all OK but

MTA table responded in 3'40''

- If "zmlogswatchctl is not running",

A) the file /opt/zimbra/log/logswatch.pid exists, PID 23393

B) there is a single /opt/zimbra/libexec/logswatch process. ==> there are two process running

zimbra 23391 0.0 0.2 7600 4848 pts/0 S 04:54 0:00 /usr/bin/perl /opt/zimbra/libexec/logswatch --config-file=/opt/zimbra/conf/logswatchrc --use-cpan-file-tail --pid-file=/opt/zimbra/log/logswatch.pid --script-dir=/tmp -t /var/log/zimbra.log
zimbra 2003 0.0 0.0 2884 820 pts/0 S+ 06:00 0:00 grep logswatch

- logmysqladmin status
Uptime: 24563 Threads: 2 Questions: 25069 Slow queries: 1022 Opens: 25 Flush tables: 1 Open tables: 19 Queries per second avg: 1.021

- check nano logger_mysql_error.log and mysql_error.log

091005 23:09:37 [Warning] option 'max_join_size': unsigned value 18446744073709551615 adjusted to 4294967295
091005 23:09:37 [Warning] option 'max_join_size': unsigned value 18446744073709551615 adjusted to 4294967295

-- mysqladmin version
/opt/zimbra/mysql/bin/mysqladmin Ver 8.41 Distrib 5.0.67, for pc-linux-gnu

I would like an advice i possible because from my small experience I cannot see anything really wrong except the warning option 'max_join_size': unsigned value which could be referred as a bug in mysq ( MySQL Bugs: #35346: max_join_size default value ) and logswatch.pid not maching with the running processes but I quite stucked....

Any advice would be very welcome

thanks very much

l.

Has this slow performance started recently, or has it always been that way?

As for your pid mismatch, the PID seems to go to a wrapper script that launches the rest of it. (At least on 6.0.x)

Ah I see that you already answered your own question and posted it in a different thread.

I am marking this thread solved. A post in this thread showing you had found your issue would have been nice

HI ArcaneMagus,
I don't understand what you mean?
I post two thread and two different zimbra systems
This, it's Zimbra 5.16 on Ubuntu 6.04. The other it's a completly different system I follow, where we have recently upgrade from 5.16 ( Ubuntu 8.04 ) to Zimbra 6.00. I don't ,just yet, see the connection of the two problems
I don't think the thread should marked as closed ...
thanks
L.

I am sorry, I saw this thread with you talking about a system acting slow, and then another thread 14 minutes later with this sentence "I have noticed very slow performance and attempting to troubleshoot the issue I realised that there was an intense activity of CLAMAV in coincidence with the server unresponsiveness.." and thought you were talking about the same system, not two different systems both acting slow.

Could you answer the question as to whether this issue started recently?

Hi, It has been like that for a while I would say, sometimes faster performance and sometimes very slow. I tought of a problem with logger and/or mysql tables. Few months ago we also tried to shrink the mysqlDB according the docs but it seems the issue still there

thx

The output is easier for people to read if you format it using 'code' tags (the # hash symbol above the editing section of a reply) rather than just a copy/paste.
