Default mail to hotmail and aol email accounts bouncing back

Hi,

I have a zimbra open source installation.

Emails sent to hotmail/live/aol email addresses have started to be bounced recently.

This is a sample log entry:

Oct 13 14:06:40 ENC4 postfix/smtp[5900]: 794A6C664F: lost connection with mx1.hotmail.com[65.55.92.136] while
sending$

Is this purely just a mailserver timeout issue or something more sinister?

The email bounces display this message which does suggest emails are being blocked purposely:

: host mx4.hotmail.com[65.55.92.184] said: 550
OU-002 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons
for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or
IP/domain reputation problems. If you are not an email/network admin please
contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Email/network
admins, please visit MSN Postmaster for email delivery
information and support (in reply to MAIL FROM command)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Check to see if your domain is not being blacklisted:

Also don't run an email server from a dynamic address or dynamic subnet. If you choose to do so, you're results may be less than desirable. You will run into problems like you mentioned and/or your email will end up in spam quarantines.

Thanks for the replies guys. I run the email server on a static IP address. I found my server was using a generic Reverse DNS PTR record. Which I've now got changed to one that points back to my "mail.mydomain.com". Hopefully this will help sort the problem.

Seems my mail server IP address does has one blacklist entry. I'll try and get that reversed. And in the meantime use ISP for outgoing mail, although this doesn't help with sending email via webmail/zimbra desktop.

Thanks.
