Question Renaming only the MTA hostname in a multi-server setup

Hi everyone,

maybe someone can help me shed some light on this issue. I do have a multi-server setup with the configuration split into one mailstore/ldap server and one mta/av/as/proxy server.

I would like to change the hostname of the mta server. At the moment it does have a hostname that is part of our private intranet and I'd like to change that to a publicly resolvable hostname (e.g. mail.xxxxxx.com).

My question is: Can I run 'zmsetservername' on the mta server and will this do the job? I can't find any information on the wiki page about multi-server setups. It seems to me zmsetservername would change a lot of things that the mta server doesn't do (e.g. url of the ldap server).

Could anyone shed some light on this? I'd be most grateful.
