Default [SOLVED] Backup and Restore with Snapshots

Hi guys,

Has anyone successfully setup backup and restore using the snapshot feature of the storage layer? This is briefly mentioned in the admin guide but no setup examples are provided. Currently running Zimbra in a Xen VM+LVM and would like to take advantage of the functionality.

From the admin guide...

Using snapshots to backup and restore
You can also backup and restore your server using the snapshot feature provided by the storage layer, rather than using Zimbra’s backup and restore feature. Using snapshots, you can maintain a standby site to use if your primary site fails at some point of time and reroute users to the standby site to keep operations running.

Thank you,
Mohammed

I guess a better place to ask would be the Xen forums (you'll get more replies), but you'll probably find this article interesting: Back Up LVM XEN Guest Containing LVs | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

Hivos,

Thank you! I think I miss understood the documentation. The link you provided is helpful. I have a script the takes snapshots of the xen VM and stored on a remote server. I will try and incorporate this with Zimbra.

Thank you,
Mohammed
