Default configure LDAP as GAL ?

Dear All,

I've configured another openLDAP server as GAL , no problem to 'search' and 'auto complete' the address when sending emails.

however, when i clicked :
Mail > New(Compose) > [To:] , and "Select Address" to [Show names from: Global Address List].

it doesn't automatically prompt all email address in openLDAP server for selection. instead, i need to make a search first.

is this normal behavior?
or is it possible to list all email addresses there for selection automatically?

Thanks.

I have to do first search like "*". You have to also setup corresponding "Most results returned by GAL search" in GAL configuration.

I don't know how to setup default search like "*".

yeah thats the annoying part - you shouldnt *have* to give it a default search string.

The way i understnad it si, the galsync account saves a local cache of the ldap accounts.. and polls to update at the given time period... so why cant the external GAL show up in the "select addresses" or "attendees" list like it does if you just have Internal GAL configured on its own.

Theres no problems in searching and autocompleting addresses from the external gal.. its just annoying that switching from Internal to Both (or just external) you lose functionality of not being able to "point and click" on addresses in the the GAL when composing an email/calendar appointment
