Default Zimbra webmail on mail.mydomain.com

Hi,

I recently installed ZCS 6.0 on a local Ubuntu server, and have migrated my company's mail accounts. We can send and receive mail so far without a problem to account@mydomain.com.

My question is regarding the webmail access. I have set zimbraMailMode to https, but the webmail interface can be accessed with https://mydomain.com and I want it to *only* be accessible from https://mail.mydomain.com. Where do I specify this change? I have read the "Split domains" wiki entry, but that's not exactly what we need.

There's an A record in the DNS for mail.mydomain.com, so the subdomain is working correctly, and we CAN access the webmail from https://mail.mydomain.com/ as well, but I'd like for it to be exclusive to that subdomain. I hope I'm explaining myself correctly... :-S

Thanks for your help.

I assume you also have an A record pointing to mydomain.com? I also assume you have valid DNS A & MX records that point to your server at mail.mydomain.com? If you do, just remove the A record for mydomain.com.

Yes, of course. Like I said, we are sending and receiving email just fine. I'd just like to configure Zimbra's webmail to be on https://mail.mydomain.com instead of https://* (as it currently is).

Removing the A record for mydomain.com would work, but we also run a web site on that server (a separate (L)AMP installation), so that would be out of the question.

Here is our current DNS configuration:

@ 14400 IN A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
mail 14400 IN A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
@ 14400 IN MX 0 mail.mydomain.com.
www 14400 IN CNAME mydomain.com.

mydomain.com is an example, of course. Currently, http://mail.mydomain.com accesses the secondary (non-Zimbra) Apache install. Another issue I'm currently working on is to setup a redirect in Apache from http://mail.mydomain.com to https://mail.mydomain.com (only for that single subdomain), but that's a whole separate issue.

I just want https://mail.mydomain.com to be the exclusive Zimbra webmail URL. I reckon this has to be configured somewhere within ZCS, but I'm not sure where.

Any ideas guys? Still haven't figured this out.

Even worse, all the webmail links (such as the briefcase), point to https://mydomain.com instead of https://mail.mydomain.com. Luckily, my website is running on http so it's not conflicting, but I'd like to have this fixed.
