Default what can detect this kind of spam?

I am now seeing spam that comes in with a subject line like " xmas gifts" "new gift idea" or something similar and then in the body of the email is just a link to a website. Nothing I can see in the email uses anything that spam protection can see except for maybe the sender being on a blacklist or something. What tools do I use for spam like this?
Because spam protection is my weak spot I have been reading as much as I can to get a handle on it. Can anyone recommend a good source of info on this subject?
thanks
Bill

looks like I have more research to do. This spam came into my system that used 5.0.18 at the school. When I forward this message to my system at home running 6.0.1 it marks it as spam and moved it to my spam folder. I think the only difference between the 2 systems other than the release is that I was able to get sanesecurity running on my home system but had a problem running the script on my school system.
