Default SMTP routing for all messages

I'm planning a migration from our existing SMTP (exim) and IMAP (cyrus) infrastructure to Zimbra Network Edition, now that our PO is signed for it...

What I'd like to do, if possible, is to have the new Zimbra system pass all of its messages through our existing SMTP server, and then migrate accounts a few users at a time with address rewriting and aliases. For example, bob@domain.com has an account on the Zimbra server, but needs to send email to alice@domain.com (same domain that Zimbra thinks it owns) that hasn't been converted yet. For that to happen, all email from Zimbra needs to be routed through the exim server, then exim will determine the destination from aliases and redirect bob's email to bob@zimbrahost.domain.com.

Sooo, the question becomes, do all Zimbra's messages pass through Zimbra's postfix instance, and if so, what do I need to change in main.cf in order to force it to route all smtp traffic through eximhost's SMTP?

Thanks for the reply! That looks exactly like what I need... I hadn't looked at the Wiki, 'cause last I looked it was still pretty empty- thanks for the reminder!

    Hi,

I currently have a webmail, but want to change to zimbra.

I want to set up one e-mail account (info@blah.co.za) that will receive all messages & distribute them to the appropriate user. Would that be possible?

I know these are two different things, but it struck me as odd. I can send from the zimbra (user@blah.co.za) to the webmail (user@blah.com), but not the other way around.

I think you may be looking for this:
[SOLVED] Fetchmail from other servers (aka account aggregation)

If not, Zimbra has an IMAP server, my understanding is most webmail works through a backend IMAP server. So you should just be able to configure the webmail application to use the Zimbra IMAP server.

    Thanks,

This looks to be the answer to my problem...

Should I then create the info@blah.co.za account in Zimbra? Create the fetchmail cron script to continually probe for new messages on the info account? I'm not sure if that is possible...
