Default Problem with attachments

Hi,

I have freshly installed ZCS no modifications whatsoever has been made. I dont know if it is a problem with Zimbra but the problem is it seems that all microsoft related document files such as .doc, .xls, .ppt are not properly associated when sent within zimbra to zimbra internal email accounts.

Kindly refer to the image attached. You'll see that there's no problem with PDF and JPEG zimbra find the associated icons . But with .doc, .xls, and .ppt you can see that the icon beside is a "?".

I am using IE8, I have microsoft office installed.

Zimbra Version:

Release 5.0.18_GA_3011.UBUNTU8 UBUNTU8 FOSS edition

jay.dorado,

This issue was introduced late in the 5.0.x series, but has been corrected in 6.0. See Bug 38514 – ? icons are seen for office files as attachments in mail.

Even though the icons display incorrectly for us on 5.0.16 NE, the files will open just fine with the appropriate application when they are clicked.

Hi Tim,

Yes you're right about attachments still opens even though it doesn't display the correct icons but that is true when using a windows machine.

In my case, I have an LTSP server running on UBUNTU with FF3 as default web browser. When those thin clients users starts to access ZCS WebUI and click on the attachment an error saying something like "/tmp/file.example could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist". For the users to open the attachment they have to save it first and from there they could open it.

Is there a way to correct the problem without upgrading to version 6.
