Cannot access SMTP/s POP3/s or IMAP/s

I have a very frustrating problem, and I can't seem to find an answer by searching these forums.

On my zimbra server (Ubuntu 8.04.02 LTS) I can successfully connect to the following ports via telnet: smtps (465), pop3s (995), and imaps (993).

My Zimbra server is listening on an external IP and I do not have a hardware firewall in front of this server. And as far as I can tell, the default Ubuntu firewall "UFW" is disabled. IPchains also returns a disabled status.

From the outside world, only the regular ports (25, 110 etc) are available, even though they seem to be enabled on the server. The others are blocked.

Is there something I am missing that I need to do in order to allow these services to be accessed from the outside world?

There's nothing else you need to do other than enable those features, check if the firewall is open and that the ports are not being blocked and I assume you don't have any hardware NAT router in front of the server? If everything should work then there may be a possibility that your ISP is blocking those ports.

BTW, you might also want to check if AppArmor is disabled.
