Default Work Around for ATTACHMENT Blocking GUI Error - using CLI

    Guys,

Since there is a JAVA Error.. in the GUI when trying to SAVE attachments blocking by ext..

I have found a work around where you can do this by CLI.

    login
    su - zimbra

(to check for blocked extension use)
zmprov gcf zimbraMtaBlockedExtension <-- this will display what is blocked after you run the list and restart postfix.

(After you do the bottom list, restart postfix by using)
    postfix reload

(to block extentions - copy and paste the list below on command line then run the postfix reload, then run the command at the top to display what is blocked) Now - if you go check in Admin Gui you will see the attachments listed int he correct blocked category

    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension asd
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension bat
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension chm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension cmd
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension com
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension dll
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension do
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension exe
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension hlp
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension js
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension jse
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension lnk
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension mov
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension ocx
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension pif
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension reg
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension rm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension scr
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension shb
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension shm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension shs

    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension vbs
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension vbx

-My challenge was to remove one of the blocked extensions, which was easy done by using the command
    Code:
    zmprov mcf -zimbraMtaBlockedExtension exe
    good work!

Does not work for me I did all of the above thread, restart my postfix as zimbra user. I still find the error any time I try to make TLS and RBL changes. It is frustrating. Please help

Smile borngunners - follow the steps they do work

Please tell me where your having a problem? You can check it first to see what is listed.. then add them, then check again to make sure they are listed..

    login then
    1) Sudo bash
    2) su - zimbra

checked blocked extension this will show blocked ext.
    3) zmprov gcf zimbraMtaBlockedExtension

    to add blocked extentions...
this command is what is used.. the one below blocks wav
    4) zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension wav

so to do all of them.. use (copy and paste all of them)
    5)
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension asd
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension bat
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension chm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension cmd
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension com
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension dll
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension do
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension exe
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension hlp
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension js
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension jse
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension lnk
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension mov
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension ocx
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension pif
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension reg
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension rm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension scr
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension shb
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension shm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension shs
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension vbe
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension vbs
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension vbx
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension vxd
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension wav
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension wmf
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension wsf
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension wsh
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension xl
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension hta

    Restart postfix
    6) postfix reload

Finally - verify they are listed or in use.. you can also now see them in the GUI as being blocked.. but untill they fix the java bug you can't change in GUI..

    checked blocked extension
    7) zmprov gcf zimbraMtaBlockedExtension

I have redone what you suggested and its still the same. Do you think it might be a bug in Release 6.0.1_GA_1816.UBUNTU8 UBUNTU8 FOSS edition. If so how do i upgrade without affecting my current configuration.

    thanks

As you'll see above mshanley is using the same release as you namely 6.0.1, if you make any modifications to configuration files then they are not guaranteed to be kept during an upgrade.

you are not being very specific on what is going wrong or where it's not working.. I cannot see your screen...

I have used this on 32bit and 64 bit and it works.. so.. either you are doing it wrong.. or there is a problem with your install

all we are doing is using command line instead of gui...

Please do 1 thing at a time and tell me what you get after each step.

    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: chm
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: cmd
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: com
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: dll
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: do
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: exe
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: hlp
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: js
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: jse
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: lnk
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: mov
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: ocx
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: pif
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: reg
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: rm
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: scr
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: shb
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: shm
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: shs
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: vbe
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: vbs
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: vbx
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: vxd
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: wav
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: wmf
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: wsf
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: wsh
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: xl
    zimbraMtaBlockedExtension: hta
    and next:
    zimbra@zimbra:~$ zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension asd
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension bat
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension chm
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension exe
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension hlp
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension js
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension jse
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension lnk
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension mov
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension ocx

    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension wsh
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension xl
    zmprov mcf +zimbraMtaBlockedExtension hta
    and finally:
    zimbra@zimbra:~$ postfix stop
postfix/postfix-script: stopping the Postfix mail system
    zimbra@zimbra:~$ postfix start
