Default zmmtaconfig service.FAILURE

I am having some issues with Zimbra for the past few days. This past weekend I did an upgrade to our server (Mac OS X 10.5.8) that Zimbra runs on. The first issues were that Zimbra could not find $JAVA_HOME and AMAVISD fails. I was instructed to link the Zimbra java to the System java:

rm /opt/zimbra/java ; ln -s /Library/Java/Home /opt/zimbra/java

On restart I no longer received an error for $JAVA_HOME. At the same time, I followed instruction from the forums to get AMAVISD working. I stopped Zimbra check zimbra processes and found a process still running. I killed the process and restarted Zimbra. This did not fix the issue. AS/AV is still failing on start up.

After my last Zimbra restart last night, Zimbra seemed to be working. Web Client and Web Admin were back up. Until I came into work this morning and found that no messages were being delivered. I checked the zimbra.log and found that the zmmtaconfig is failing. Here is a snippet of the log:

From the errors that you posted it looks like your LDAP server is down, or at least it can't communicate with it. Are you sure that all zimbra processes are starting up correctly? Is DNS still working properly? Remember that all attempts to connect are made to either localhost or the fqdn of the server, so if "ampmail01.homepagesmail.com" isn't resolving to the server then it can't connect to it.

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest. you're right, it seems to be linked to my backup process on friday night. Zimbra might not restart properly.

Will have a look in that direction.

Valk.
