Samba update ruined it all :(

[NoDoze]

I updated my samba from 3.0 to 3.4 and now the ldap is having issues communicating to the samba, and vise versa.

when trying to login with:
smbclient -U user //mail.domain.com/user

I get the password prompt, but after I enter the password I get:
NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

I've check ldap.conf, and my smb.conf, and both look in order...

What am I forgetting?

I updated this package cause of this:

I've been messing with it all afternoon trying to get it to work...
Now my samba user machine log is saying this when trying to connect:

netlogon_creds_server_check: credentials check failed.

_netr_ServerAuthenticate3: netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client USER machine account USER$

Any ideas what that means...?

I've come to realize that the error from samba 3.0.33

_net_auth2: creds_server_check failed

And the error from samba 3.4

netlogon_creds_server_check: credentials check failed.

Are the SAME error messages! Grrrr...

Cause the line following is the same:

Rejecting auth request from client HOST machine account HOST$

..sigh...

Can anyone help me...!?!

We also upgraded from Samba 3.0 to 3.4 and are having some small issues. However we can connect to the server.

Do you see the computer accounts when you type "getent passwd"?
If not, make sure that ldap is enabled (system-config-authentication in RHEL).

This post was in regards to Window 7 working with zimbra/samba/posix extentions...

The issue resolved itself... Updates to windows 7 AND more importantly samba updates have resolved these issues. I'm now running samba 3.4.3 which contains the newest windows 7 compatibility fixes...

Seems that is not correct. I still have the same problem with samba 3.4.3

I found that my log has these lines:

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I am getting the same errors in my logs with the most current version of Samba. Anyone else?
