Exclamation Multiple Domain Hosting & DNS

Hello,
I am in the process of migrating from imail server to zimbra and I am trying to figure out how to get the reverse dns to work correctly. Currently I have dedicated IPs setup for each client:

domain1.com = 12.235.119.60
domain2.com = 12.235.119.61
domain3.com = 12.235.119.62
etc...
So when the reverse DNS is queried by the recipient server it would return 12.235.119.60 is mail.domain1.com.

So my question is how do I assign IPs to the multiple domains in zimbra? Currently they are all sent from mail2.knorrweb.com which is 12.235.119.59. But those messages are going to get blocked when they try to do a reverse on domain4.com and it returns mail2.knorrweb.com and not mail.domain4.com.

Am I setting the server up correctly? I am 24 hours into the install, and everything is working great...just don't understand multiple domains multiple ips.

Thanks,
Dan

The reverse DNS is only for the primary domain (and the FQDN) on your Zimbra server, you only have one public IP and one reverse DNS secondary domains do not get blocked.

Great! Makes my life easier, so should I be pointing the MX records for the other domains to mail2.knorrweb.com or should their MX records be pointed to mail.domain1.com mail.domain2.com etc, and the mail A record have the 12.235.119.59 ip?

You just need valid domain records (including MX) for each domain and point the A record to the public IP of your server.

Hello.

Excuse for my bad english.

I have the same case ... working perfectly.

a public IP address for multiple domains ... the key is ... you must configure virtual domains in the DNS server.

No, you don't need to use Virtual Domains - I have multiple domains on my server and don't use them at all and mail delivery to/from that server works fine.

sorry ... are right. In this case what must be taken into account are the zones of DNS. If the zones of DNS are well configured the server should work fine for each domain
