[SOLVED] sending alias mail

Is there an option somewhere to be able to send email messages in the collaboration suite using an alias that I own? I have the drop down for imapped email accounts I have connected, but have no way to send from an alias. Is the workaround to somehow setup the alias as an external account?

Go to a User Preferences/Accounts tab and set a Persona.
