Unhappy mail -s option

Taking backup of zimbra servers to tape drives and wanted to receive a mail after backup is done using:
mail -s "backup status " mail@domain < /lpath/log

mail@domain doesnot belong to the zimbra mail system.

we are not receiving any mails for the same..
can anyone help plzzzzz

Well it should either be shutdown or removed from the system as per the ZCS installation documents.

Stop the service, disable it from starting and/or uninstall it.

Sounds like something needs to be tweaked in the way that /bin/mail queues a message. You're getting a "pop-up sendmail". Like /etc/alternatives/mta on Red Hat - or /etc/mail/mail.conf on FreeBSD.. not sure how else it might be done.
