    Question Cannot access email

    Hello..

Two days in a row now...my 3.1.1 server (FC4) stopped allowing users access to their mail via imap and web access.

This occurred between the hours of 18:00 and 22:00....cannot be more exact as I cannot find any error message in the log files....

I just re-gen'd my certificates....so I'm suspecting this might have had something to do with it.......I followed the wiki notes on how to do this.

Has anyone experienced anything like this..???

    Where can I look....I've checked the zimbra logs....syslog......and I cann't find a thing wrong..

zmcontrol status states that everything is up and running...

Any help with this would be appreciated...

    Hi demanl,
    Sorry you're having trouble.

Could you post your build, and your system specs?
You mentioned that the logs don't show anything. ..Do they show that the services are running despite them not working??

Also, you can try (when you know it's crash) running:
    su - zimbra
    sh -x zmmtactl status
    sh -x zmmailboxctl status

I would be interested in seeing what it returns. Some others might have more insight than I.

Although......if zmcontrol status returns that everything is working.......then the above commands probably won't return anything unusual.

    It's a start.

EDIT: It just occured to me you said IMAP was failing too. Originally, I was thinking it was tomcat. . .but now, I tend to agree, sounds like a cert problem. Do you have it set for https access or http (not that it will solve the problem, just wondering)

My specs are P4 3.2, 2GB Ram, 300 gb sata drive, FC4, 1GB Lan...server is currently running mainly zimbra and samba...although I just shut down samba...which I will leave off for a while.

    Thumbs up

    Hey....I fixed it...

...I just re_installed the current version over the current installation...it just re-updated it....and voila.....I just had to re-add my dspam info to the local.cf in the spamassassin folder.....

So..for now on..when in dire straits...I'll just reinstall over the current installation....very cool capability....

    Cool product....We love ZIMBRA....ZIMBRA ROCKS....
