Exclamation [SOLVED] Update - Critical Security Issue

Hi

This morning I tried to update zimbra whit the instructions from a mail I got about some security issues. Critical Security Issue

I follow the guide for the ZCS Version 5.0.x ( I run ubuntu server) exactly. When it was time to start the zimbra it failed

ldap http://hostname:389 5) failed errno=98 (Address already in use)

The ldap is not running and nothing is listening on the the port!

Anyone?

It appears that something is already listening on that port, shutdown Zimbra and try a "telnet localhost 389" if you get a connection then kill whatever service is running there (stop it from starting at boot) then restart Zimbra. This has nothing to do with the Security Patch you applied.

Failed to start slapd. Attempting debug start to determine error.
daemon: listen(ldap://hostname:389, 5) failed errno=98 (Address already in use)

only port 22 is open. I checked this whit nmap and netstat -plan

Release 5.0.15_GA_2851.UBUNTU8 UBUNTU8
Ubuntu server 8.04 LTS

Are you sure running "netstat -plan | grep 389" as root shows nothing?

Maybe zmcontrol stop did not successfully shut down your running LDAP service?

This won't fix your problem now, but you can run

zmmailboxdctl stop
zmmailboxdctl start

...to restart only the mailbox service after applying the patch, without disrupting any other services.

Thank you for the help Hubert!!

The server couldn't resolv the ldap://hostname:389 and I solved it by removing a row in the /etc/hosts file. After I remove the row in the hosts file it started

antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running

Thank you for your time!
