Default Urgent system issue, please help!

Hi!
We are running the following:

Zimbra NE 5.0.9 Ubuntu 8.04 64bit, RAID 1 in a datacenter.

We have a second (backup) server in a different datacenter. It is pulling the /opt/zimbra/backup every night from the main server via rsync.

This has been working fine for 10 months. Last night though, during the rsync, the server crashed, could not find any info in the logs. Now every time I start the rsync pull on the backup machine, the production server crashes and restarts. It the resyncs the RAID for 5 hours. When I start the rsync pull, it again crashes.

So I can not get the recent (full) backup out of the main server - please help! This is the worst case...

Thanks

C.

What does dmesg show ? Anything in /var/log/messages ? How many disks in your RAID set and what level ?

Well, it seems that our system became unstable after installing the security upgrade from last week. It crashes every few hours, then comes up again.
Any thoughts on that?

If you followed the instructions exactly then I'd be surprised if caused the problem, you could always reverse the change if you think that's the problem.

If it's crashing and rebuilding the RAID, I'd start looking into possible hardware issues. Did you apply any updates to Ubuntu, or just the Zimbra fix?

How about some feedback on this 'urgent' problem?

If it seems like a software crash, as you mention that it started this after an update, then boot the server to a live cd/usb and pull a copy of the data that way.

Well, it turned out to be a hardware error. No need for your 'sarcastic' attitude, phoenix. Being nice should not be that hard...

There's also no need for that sort of comment. That wasn't sarcasm, you posted a question with a title that was 'urgent' and I was interested in the outcome as I'd seen nothing in this thread. I'm sorry you found the question offensive, I'll leave you to get on with it then.

OK, then thanks for the interest. It sounded a little sarcastic, questioning the urgency of it.
But if that sarcasm was a misjudgement on my side, then all should be OK now...
