I thought I'd already answered this question.
You can use an external LDAP for user authentication but you must also provision them in Zimbra as well. There is no additional featuires to auto-provision users, nor synchronise passwords, in the NE version of Zimbra from an external LDAP source.
Search the forums there are several post about scripts you can use to provision users in Zimbra, there are also several RFEs in
bugzilla for synchronising passwords if you search for them also.
