Default Frontend for multiple standalone servers

To make it easier for our end users, I'd like to create a frontend for our users. They will use a single hostname for web, imap and pop3 (and if possible smtp). This way they will have an easy to remember address.

I know Zimbra Proxy is for this purpose, creating a frontend to multiple backend servers. However, in my case, we have multiple standalone servers, thus multiple primary ldaps. As far as I know, Zimbra proxy will query only a single LDAP server. Thus for our needs we cannot use it.

Is there any alternatives? Any suggestion is appreciated.

As far as Zimbra is concerned, there isn't a way to do what you want. You could set up your own custom nginx proxy on a "frontend" server somewhere to proxy connections into the right Zimbra server.

Is there a reason you're not able to merge your standalones into a multi-node setup?

It would give you stronger options as you'd have a live LDAP backup, multiple MTA's, and of course the automatic proxy.

To be honest, I don't know the steps involved in merging them. Also, one of the servers have already users on it. So, if I am to merge them I have to be careful and know exact steps.

Are you using the Network Edition or the OSS edition?

Are the servers at the same version, or at least easily-patchable to be at the same version?
