    Default External LDAP Failures?

We have a single box Zimbra server running with an external LDAP server (Fedora Directory Server) running both authentication and GAL. Initial testing worked fine; however now that we are trying multiple (around 20) email accounts the authentication seems to be periodically "hanging up" every few of hours.

We're running 3.1.0 GA on CentOS 4.3 w/ JDK 1.5.0_06. Machine is older (P III) but otherwise appears to work fine.

Symptoms: Initial connection to server (both via the web interface and via Thunderbird email client) starts; however after sending loging information the response simply never completes - Thunderbird eventually gives up with a timeout error, while the web client sits forever on the "loading" page.

Currently running "zmcontrol stop" followed by "zmcontrol start" gets the server back into a workable mode; however this is obviously not a long-term solution.

Looking through the logs has so far turned up nothing useful. Any information about either how to fix this; or how to configure logging to try and figure out what's going on would be most helpful.

    Thanks.

Try logging in to the machine with a client,
then run top and see what it returns.
