Default Zimbra deleting emails

This is a really odd issue where some users are complaining that after they look at some emails in outlook they somehow get marked for deletion.

This only seems to occur to the outlook users. Thunderbird doesnt have an issue with this.

We are running 5.0.12_GA_2789.SuSEES10_20090126054645 SuSEES10 FOSS edition.

Does anyone know as to why some emails are apparently just random being marked for deletion upon reading?

Is it worthwhile just upgrading to version 5.0.16?

I know outlook doesn't seem to like IMAP much, but this behavior is really confusing us at the moment.

Very odd indeed ... Have you witnessed this happening ? Are they just marked or actually deleted ? What happens if you were to re-index one of their accounts ? I would also recommend that you do perform a update at some point.

They are marked for deletiong sorry, not actually deleted.

I have witnessed this myself as I can duplicate this by running outlook as my mail client for a few hours.

I will update and attempt to re-index when I can as we are still migrating several gigs of mail into peoples mailboxes.

Are they using IMAP or POP3 to access the Zimbra server? Do they have any filters that may be marking them as deleted?

This won't be of any help but I had the same issue yesterday.

Mail was read with OSX Mail.app and the junk filter deleted some mails right in front of my eyes.

Actually it does.

Im starting to think it is outlooks junk mail filter.

I have upgraded the outlook to 2007 sp2, going to upgrade Zimbra to 5.0.16 this evening and sort out outlooks junk mail filter. Hopefully by tomorrow problem solved.
