Question LDAP won't start

i restore a zimbra server after a hard disk crash, and fix almost the problems reeding the help of this forum theres only one problem, that i have and look every where and i cant find it

this is the error that i have

zimbra@esigt:~$ zmcontrol status
Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Enabled services read from cache. Service list may be inaccurate.

The thread you attached this post to is over two years old and wasn't the same problem, you should have started a new thread.

You also should supply some information about the operating system, the Zimbra version and release and what you've tried to fix the problem.

my server it ubuntu 8.4
my zimbra zcs-5.0.6_GA_2314.UBUNTU8.FRANKLIN
i have check my host configuration and it seems to be good
this is the /etc/hosts file content


127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
200.30.174.122 esigt.esigt.com
192.168.0.5 esigt.esigt.com

Your hosts file is incorrect, read the Quick Start Installation Guide for the correct format (hint: it should not contain your Public IP only your LAN IP) or perhaps the wiki article for Ubuntu. You should also make sure you have a SPlit DNS set-up as described in the wiki article and numerous posts in the forums.

hi i fix my host problemes, but when i try to start zimbra services it dont pass tru ldap service an giveme the same error but this time dont start the other services, so i decide to reinstall zimbra to correct any problem for the dns issue and i did ti but now i having another problem my service

while i was installing i get this error

Port conflict detected: 80 (zimbra-store)

and when i ran the
zmcontrol status
Host esigt.com
imapproxy Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Stopped
zmmailboxdctl is not running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running

this is what i get
can you pleas help me

Do search the forums before asking questions as they've most likely been asked and answered before. That error indicates there's a conflict on port 80, you've probably got a web server installed and running - get rid of it.

i did i check the apache configuration and i change the apache port.config to 81 and restart but nothing hapend same error

Then you still have something listening on port 80, you need to check what it is and disable it. You could shutdown apache until you've finished the install.
