convertd stopped after upgrade to 5.0.16 NE

Recently we upgraded to Version 5.0.16_GA_2921.RHEL5_64.NETWORK Apr 29, 2009.

Servers status shows convertd not running and zmcontrol status shows this output:

I did find Bug 37747 – don't enable new convertd on upgrades, it seems that you guys wanted to switch to new convertd version where possible, and that it is not possible on some upgrades.

However, can anyone clarify what exactly is going under the hood now, if we upgraded, what are possible scenarios, and what's running (if anything) depending on those scenarios?
