Default zmmsgtrace gone in GnR?

Per Logger(GnR) - Zimbra :: Wiki

Quote:
What's changed since 5.0 (and earlier)
The logger service has been completely redesigned and redeveloped for ZCS 6.0
The service no longer relies on mysql and most command-line utilities related to the old service are no longer available.
zmmsgtrace has been removed with no plan for a replacement.
I don't mind using grep and other search tools to look through logs, but some people I work with do, and they're often called upon to verify that important deliverables have been...delivered...to clients' mail servers.

And now just when I find out about the existence of zmmsgtrace, it's being removed?

Is something else available or in the works to simplify tracking messages?

Well you could write something to parse the logfiles and forward each entry into your own MySQL database. Alternatively, and something I have been thinking about, is putting ::: Official Home Page for MailScanner - Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam Filter ::: back infront of ZCS.

Did you past the right link? How would mail scanner help?

Afraid that's a nontrivial task for me. If necessary I may take it on as a learning project. What language/tool would you recommend to do the parsing/forwarding?

I would use a PHP log parser and then just write the lines to a MySQL database. As not on GnR at the moment it would be hard for me to work out what would need to be done; once Beta 2 comes out I may give it a whirl then
