    Hi Kevin,

    I did do that sh -x but a lot of the contents were "greek" so to speak.

    In anycase I did do the following:

    1. recreated the spamaccount and notspamaccount and used the webmail.avmax.ca domain rather than the avmax-internal.net domain.

    2. su to root

    3. service zimbra restart

    I am now collecting messages in the spamaccount and zmtrainsa is processing them.

    It was probably the restart of the services that was the issue here but I am not sure.

    I still have another question though.

    When I log into the spam account, there are messages in both the 'Inbox' and in the 'Junk' folders from my domain users.

    Is this normal behaviour? Or should the messages be delivered to the 'Junk' folder only? Does zmtrainsa look in both 'Inbox' and 'Junk' folders?

    Cheers,

    Travis

    zmsatrain takes a parameter so looking at the entry in cron you should see which folder it looks at. If no folder is set it should look at the INBOX.

    Unhappy Sorry to reopen this issue but...

    After executing the sh -x zmtrainsa I get this message.

    Could not find site rules directory...

    My major problem is that I'm having some stange zimbra shutdowns and everything points to training system problem.

    And why? Because the only errors I can see are just after the can't find /tmp/spam.xxxx file.

    Any help?

    TIA

    Hi Guys,

    I am getting a similar message to the above when I manually run zmtrainsa.
    Is it anything to worry about, my spam is definitely getting sent to the spam account when I mark a message as 'Junk'.

    Just thought I'd check.
    This is a just a brief section of the readout that 'zmtrainsa <server> <user> <password> spam' junk gives me;

    Learned from 0 message(s) (1 message(s) examined).
    not flushed
    reading message russ@server.com:16 of 433 (977 header octets) (4459 body octets) .....config: could not find site rules directory
    .

    And secondly, just to be absolutely sure, it doesn't matter whether you manually drag the message to the 'Junk' folder or mark it as junk does it?
    I think marking it as junk gets it checked by the spam account immediately whereas dragging it to the junk folder gets it checked each night by the CRON job.
    Am I right?

    Thanks for any help,

    Russ

    The problem with the 'site rules directory' was fixed, I believe. Which release of Zimbra is this & which o/s?

    Yes, it does make a difference whether you drag a message to the Junk folder or hit the Junk button. Hitting the Junk button will get the message sent to the Junk folder and will also forward a copy to the spam training account which will go into training every night when zmtrainsa is run. Hitting the Not Junk button in the Junk folder will send a copy to the ham training account and the message goes back to the Inbox. Dragging a message to/from the Junk folder will bypass that process.
    Regards

    Thanks for such a quick answer, once again.

    I am on 'Version 4.5.1_GA_660.RHEL4 01-Feb-2007' and running it on CentOS 4.4.

    And thanks for the other info too, that clears that up.

    I'm on 4.5.2 on CentOS 4.4 and I don't see this behaviour, it's this bug and it was scheduled for 'Frank' which is 4.5 You can check zmtrainsa code to see if it's been fixed in the one you have, there's a resolution in the bug report.

    Hi Phoenix,

    I have now upgraded to 4.5.2 but still have the same problem!

    'could not find site rules directory'

    I have to admit that embarrassingly i can't quite the ide with the commands in the bug report!

    Where it says;

    'Fix zmtrainsa thusly:

    ${zimbra_home}/libexec/sa-learn -p ${zimbra_home}/conf/salocal.cf \
    --dbpath ${zimbra_home}/amavisd/.spamassassin/ -L --no-sync \
    --siteconfigpath ${zimbra_home}/conf/spamassassin --spam ${spamdir}

    ${zimbra_home}/libexec/sa-learn -p ${zimbra_home}/conf/salocal.cf \
    --dbpath ${zimbra_home}/amavisd/.spamassassin/ -L --no-sync \
    --siteconfigpath ${zimbra_home}/conf/spamassassin --ham ${hamdir}

    ${zimbra_home}/libexec/sa-learn -p ${zimbra_home}/conf/salocal.cf \
    --siteconfigpath ${zimbra_home}/conf/spamassassin --dbpath
    ${zimbra_home}/amavisd/.spamassassin/ --sync'

    Do I have to manually put in my Zimbra paths everywhere it says '${zimbra_home}', i.e. /opt/zimbra/libexec...etc and do I also have to put in the Spam path where it says '${spamdir}'.

    I have tried it in various ways from various different directories but can't get it to work!
    Please imagine you are telling a rather stupid child when you explain this and then perhaps I'll understand!

    Russ

    You should check the the zntrainsa script and replace the code with the example that Marc has posted in the bug report, only do that if there are differences. You don't need to make any changes other than that. There's also some info in comment 5 that may apply.
    Regards

    Thanks Bill,

    my script looks exactly like that!

    So is it probably just the symlink?

    One last thing then hopefully, do you know, off the top of your head where I should be symlinking to in CentOS as I don't have an /etc/mail/spamassassin folder?

    Thanks again
