Server error getting database logger connection

Hey all,

When I log into the admin console, I get this error -

Server error encountered Message: system failure: getting database logger connection Error code: service.FAILURE Method: GetServiceStatusRequest Details:soap:Receiver

When I run zmcontrol status, the zmlogswatchctl service is not running. When I manually attempt to start it, it won't start. I cannot seem to find a logfile telling me what's wrong. Any ideas? The mailserver seems to work fine but if a service is not running, I'm assuming it should be.

I was having a similar error on your version before upgrading.

Here's what I did;

ps ax | grep zmlog

If this returns PID's with zmlog referenced, then;

kill *PID_zmlog_Number_Here* ; kill *PID_zmlog_Number_Here*

then again;

ps ax | grep zmlog

if that's clear (besides example; 13121 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep zmlog)

then;

zmlogswatchctl start
zmcontrol status

Log-in to the web interface and logger should be active again.

Umm wow that was easy. It worked!! So what exactly does the logger do? Logfiles still seemed to be updating in /var/log when that wasn't working so I'm confused.

This thread initially answered a few questions for me when we were at 5.0.11. Check it out 5.011 Bug - zmlogger fails to stop

Since upgrading to 5.0.13 it has not happened

I used zcs5.0.11 and get the same error , the error is disappear after the server restarted , how can i upgrade from zcs5.0.11 to zcs5.0.13
