Have a look at /opt/zimbra/postfix/conf/master.cf.in and post the line that says something like
Code:
smtp inet n - - - 5 smtpd

Okay, so your current default is 100 connections serving both inbound and outbound. If you change the 7th field from a '-' to something like 200 that will double the inbound/outbound rate that your server will process. Always make incremental changes as you also need to keep an eye on memory, cpu and bandwidth aswell. If you increase it too much your system could grind to a halt. Ideally you would be better setting up additional MTAs aswell so you can share the load between them, or better still a SMTP load balancer between multiple MTAs.
