Thumbs up Zimbra Web client time out!

Hi ALL,

This is my first post on this forum and for sure not the last one

Let met start by saying what a product Zimbra in one word phenomenal

I have worked with Exchange Scalix and some other third party mail solutions but Zimbra beats them all

I have one question that is bothering me i have installed zimbra on Debian Etch and it's working perfect but sometimes i get disconnected from the webmail.

I have monitored the issue this week before posting this massage some time i don't get the web interface just URL not found when i login via VPN to my network and go on the lan interface i do get the web interface.

I am using Zimbra Version 5.0.14_GA_2850.DEBIAN4.0.FOSS Mar 3, 2009
Debian 4.0 Etch
Shorewall firewall

Can someone point me in the right direction i am a n00bie to Zimbra and want to learn all about it

Many thanks in forward.

Best regards,

Jesse Mirza

Are you saying it fails to find the URL when you VPN in ? If not, then when does it fail and how are you connecting to the server ?

Hi Uxbod,

Thanx for the fast reply!

When i got thru like Domain Names, Web Hosting, VPS Hosting,*and SSL Certificates - MyDomain i get URL not found this mostly is about 2 or 3 minutes and then i get the web interface.

But if i dail in thru the VPN and go to the http://192.168.1.5 i get the web interface and when i am on the network i never get the error.

In my /etc/shorwall/rules i have these lines defined;

ACCEPT net $FW tcp 80
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 443
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 110
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 143
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 22
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 25
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 993
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 995
ACCEPT net $FW tcp 7071

ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 80
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 443
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 110
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 143
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 22
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 25
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 993
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 995
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 7071
ACCEPT loc $FW tcp 389

Thank you again for the fast reply.

I suppose the question is, why is it unavailable? Perhaps there's a DNS problem or a problem with your firewall? As you haven't given any details of your domain name or details of the errors you're receiving then it's impossible to check. As you can VPN into your LAN and reach the server then it's likely not to be a Zimbra problem. Do you have a Split DNS set-up on your LAN? Are all the ports forwarded to your correct LAN IP for the Zimbra server?
