Angry Fonts Missing in Preferences

Normally when writing an email, a selection of fonts are available, including Tahoma. However, when going to set a default font, Tahoma is not an available option along with four other fonts available from the Compose screen.

Why are the fonts missing? It is a nuisance to me as I have to manually select "Tahoma" each time instead of being able to have it already selected by "Default."

Does anyone have any suggestions for a work-around?
