Default Spark client keeps disconnecting from Zimbra server

Hello,

When using spark client or a jabber client with zimbra, we experience consistent disconnect and reconnects. This happens in different networks we tried.

On the same server, we have tried other jabber servers which seemed to work fine which eliminates network or server connection problems.

Any clue why this happens, and what I could do to try and rectify the issue? Also which log file does chat service error messages be logged to?

Zimbra version:
Release 5.0.9_GA_2533.RHEL5_20080815132719 CentOS5 FOSS edition

Thanks,
Shibu

Sounds like your hitting Bug 31292 - XMPP client connections timing out after 10 minutes which was fixed in 5.0.10+

The workaround for 5.0.9 is to go into /opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml and add a new entry for the 'xmpp_client_idle_timeout' key with a large value. The value is in msec, the default is 600000 (10 minutes). Make it 100 minutes, or 1000 minutes to lessen the annoyance to users. Note that raising this value will lower the rate at which the server recovers some memory when clients drop connections. Make sure you change it back after you upgrade to 5.0.13.
