Help needed

Well we have been running Zimbra all week and it is great! I had some server issues (Compaq Proliant 8500 with dual 700mhz PIII Xeons, 10,000RPM SCSI drives and 2gb RAM running FC4). I disabled logging. spell checking, IMAP, and POP and it has been fine since. Does this make sense? We were hoping to run everything so if you have any suggestions we would appreciate them. The only issues we are having are:

1. In the email headers it says localhost.localdomain in a received field. We want this to be the server name instead so we don't trigger spam filters etc. I found a way in the admin side to change it but there is one received field that still shows localhost.

2. One domain we are serving is tied to Active Directory. Authentication works by bouncing off AD but is there a way to import AD accounts into Zimbra so we don't have to provision them all by hand?

3. Is there a way for a client to check an additional non-Zimbra email account within the AJAX client? We have a request from a student that wants to check his school's pop email from within Zimbra.

hi, glad to hear you're enjoying using zimbra! unfortunately, dual 700mhz is pushing the lower end for zimbra system requirements. the 2gb ram is good though

1. do you mean mail received on the zimbra server? that shouldn't be a problem. i'm not sure if that can be configured at this point; some things are hard-coded as 127.0.0.1

if you mean mail sent *from* zimbra then that would mean you installed with the hostname set to localhost.localdomain.

2. you could script an ldap query to ad and then call zmprov with the results. not a trivial task, obviously

3. search around here for fetchmail

It is mail sent from the Zimbra box. Hostname was set to our server name before install and 127.0.0.1 is the first entry in the hosts file as per instructions. Where would I go to change it if something wasn't quite right during install?

Not sure the problem your trying to solve? Remove the localhost received headers? Why? I just check a few internal mails and we have the same thing with no adverse spam marking of our mail.

Ok, if that is how it is supposed to be then we can leave it. So all of your mail going outside the internal network has localhost listed then? Thanks for your help!

Yes. for the hop form Zimbra to Postfix and any amavisd-new activity.

Ok this is something that I have to fix. I have been listed and relisted on the CBL list and this is a school that is not sending any spam whatsoever. We only have a few test users right now and hardly any traffic. It must be being blocked because of the headers like the CBL web site says. Please help me remove this information (localhost.localdomain) so we can stop being listed on CBL. We are being blocked by people that use Barracudas because they use the CBL list. My mail is being defferred to these servers because of the CBL list. Thanks for your help!
