Default adding new attribute based on newly loaded schema

Hi all,

Would any one know how to simply add a new attribute based on a newly loaded schema file?

I've managed to install the Posix/Samba functionality and all I need to add is;

apple-user-homeDirectory

so that all users have this value in addition to homeDirectory which will be identical.

It doesn't have to be editable or even show in the GUI, as long as apple-user-homeDirectory get added to every ones ldap entry.

I obviously got this to work using plain old OpenLDAP but would like to extend Zimbra LDAP to do the same.

I tried hacking the zimba_posixaccount and reloading it file but to no avail and am certainly no programmer.

Thanks in advance.

You should really not modify the ZCS LDAP schema as this could change between versions and you run the risk of loosing any work you do. If you wish to do this then a external schema should be used which you would then authenticate against.

... what fun is that

Besides, I'm using the open source version which implies that I understand custom mods could be wiped.

Besides an externel schema which I am loading, any ideas on what I can do to insert that attribute (apple-user-homeDirectory)?
