Default [SOLVED] pre/post email processing

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to process emails before sending or receiving, like an antispam would do. But I would like to make it work with email sent/received via heavy or light email client.

Are zimlets the solution ? Is it better to add an intermediary smtp server ? Maybe is it better to modify actual ZCS smtp server ?

Thanks for your answers/ideas/suggestions...
Regards
Luc

Welcome to the forums

Yes this can be achieved using content filters within Postfix. It would very much depend on what you would like to do.

Thanks for your answer.

Actually, we are specialized in automatic processing of written language.
So, for instance, we would like to understand the meaning of incoming emails to eventually redirect them to the good interlocutor.
Or we could check content of outgoing emails to automatically send a copy to somebody would could be interesting by the subject.

That's why I think the process would be much close to the process of an antispam. It would interact the same way in the email delivery process.

You still think content filters within Postfix is the only solution ?
Thanks.

If you are looking to re-write the headers based on content and analysis then personally I would put another MTA in-front of ZCS and perform the checking there. Leave ZCS to what it is good at, and you will also have less issues when you upgrade your installation aswell.
