Default Need help with restore - Disaster has struck!

Hi,

on Friday we had a major hardware failure resulting in the data partition of our Zimbra server being totally destroyed. A filesystem check resulted in an empty directory and a lost+found dir with loads of files.
And to make it even worse we discovered that we have no working backup after January 7th. (Yes I know, you should monitor backups :-(( )

OK so we set up a new server, restored the old backup and all have our mails until Jan 7th.
For our Oulook users we could use the pst-importer to get the mails that were synced to Outlook.

But we have some users and some shared accounts that were not synced to any Outlook.
We have found the mail blobs in the lost+found dir of the old server. Is there a way to feed them back into the new server?

Any help is appreciated.

Christian

Sorry to hear of your problems! I'm sure you've gotten it sorted out by now, I notice you are a Network Edition customer so I'd recommend contacting support directly if you have not already done so.

I would expect that there may be trouble with sql consistency if restoring chunks from the lost&found folder, but there's likely to be some way to get it all sorted.

Are they valid emails ? If so you could inject them back into the system ?

Thanks for your help.

@Dirk, we will not move the mails directly into the new datastore As this will quite surely not work.

@uxbod, yes I guess they are valid. The files still have the names like in the store and they can be read with an editor and look like complete mails.

How can you injext them directly?

Thanks

Christian
