Default [SOLVED] Documents and Briefcase tabs' URL Problem

Hello Zimbra Forums,

I am using Zimbra OSE 5.0.11 on Debian 4. The server is in my home LAN where I created the "home" top level domain. The zimbra server's hostname in this domain is msg.home. A dns server inside hosts the mx record for msg.home.

In my router, I created a port-forward to this server for all the relevant tcp ports so it can be accessed from the internet. My subscription to dyndns.org hosts the mx record for foo.ath.cx and directs emails to go to my Zimbra server. I access the server only as https://foo.ath.cx because I normally am outside my home network. I use the msg.home hostname only when I am in the home network and am accessing the management console.

Everything has been working fine in all versions except 5.0.11. The problem is with the Briefcase and Documents tab. When I leave blank the field "Public service host name", the objects in my briefcase have a link of "https://foo.ath.cx/home/user@foo.ath.cx/Briefcase/ELECTRIC%20ORANGE%20VOIDED%20CHECK.pdf" but the links to documents in the Documents tab show "https://msg.home/home/user@foo.ath.cx/Notebook/Bakersfield%20Speeding%20Ticket".

However, when I enter the value "foo.ath.cx" in the field "Public service host name", the documents in the Documents tab show their link as "https://foo.ath.cx/home/user@foo.ath.cx/Notebook/Bills%20and%20Debts" and the Briefcase objects show "http://foo.ath.cx/home/user@foo.ath.cx/Briefcase/ACS%20-%20Pay%20By%20Web.pdf"

I cannot access from the outside when the objects use the URL for inside my home.

It used to be that if I left the "Public service host name" field blank, it would continue to use the requesting base url for all objects. How can I fix this?

Peter

You should setup SplitDNS (there's a page in the wiki about this) in order to use the same FQDN and URLs inside (on your LAN, from home) and outside (from the Internet).
