Thats interesting. I'll try that during my next scheduled downtime.

Well I made the timeout change on one of my two machines this AM, and so far so good. The changed one seems to not error out anymore, while the other one continues to do so.

However if this fixes the problem in the long run, does it actually fix the problem or moves it to the client itself timing out? If the timeout is the cause of these errors, why is any connection taking longer the 60 seconds in the first place? At least in our case the machines are far from busy.

Funnily enough I'm reopening a support ticket with Zimbra right at this very moment regarding the changes made and what their affect will be. I'm also going to ask for the recommended values rather than the 600 seconds I chose.

We haven't had a single alert or user issue since I made the changes. Glad to hear its worked for you too.

I'll post back when I find out more.

I have posted Matt's configuration to Bug 37539 – http proxy: random 502 Bad Gateway errors.

Interestingly, a timeout of 100 reduces the errors greatly but does not eliminate them. I'll try to edge the number up, and see where the magic number is. I suspect it may also be installation dependent.

Upgraded to 5.0.16 at the weekend and at the same time removed my bad gateway fixes. Since then I started getting bad gateway errors again so I've reapplied my fixes.

Is this related to Zimbra at all? Were you trying to access a Zimbra server? Are you using the Outlook connector? It sounds like you should be talking to your server's administrator...
