it did nothing -(

sorry to be a pain im panicing a little now

Okay, so now everything has been copied and you have run zmfixperms have you tried started ZCS or am I missing something ?

i had assumed that the fixperms had done its job. i ran the installer

i noticed that durning the installation i got

Setting up CA...sh: openssl: not found

i have now installed openssl

i got Configuration complete - press return to exit


when starting zimbra i got

zimbra@email:~$ zmcontrol start
Host email.wernethschool.com
Starting logger...Done.
Starting mailbox...Done.
Starting antispam...Done.
Starting snmp...Done.
Starting spell...Done.
Starting mta...FAILED
Starting zmmtaconfig...zmmtaconfig is already running.
postsuper: fatal: scan_dir_push: open directory defer: Permission denied
postfix failed to start
Starting saslauthd...saslauthd[18231] :detach_tty : Cannot start saslauthd
saslauthd[18231] :detach_tty : Another instance of saslauthd is currently running
failed.
zmsaslauthdctl failed to start


Starting stats...Done.
zimbra@email:~$

Sounds like the previous install is still running due to the openssl error. I would stop ZCS and check for any old zimbra processes running. Run the dummy install again, clean it up, copy across /opt/zimbra again, and then run the zmfixperms.

during the dummy install i now get the following

###ERROR###

zimbra-apache_5.0.12_GA_2789.UBUNTU8_i386.deb installation failed

Check /tmp for the install and setup logs ... see why it failed to install the package. If you are starting over you may have to remove them first.

i was winging about a simlink it could not create. i removed the zimbra directory and re-ran the dummy installation all went well. now its re-rsyncing the data back.. l will post again when i re-run the fixperms script.

ok so the data went back across no problem.


root@email:/opt/zimbra# /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms
root@email:/opt/zimbra#

same as before. nothing.. it did think for about 20 secconds before it came back to the input line

any ideas?

okay, so first thing make sure no old zimbra processes are running. Then fire it up and see what happens
